Every Smile, Every Struggle

I Will Be Profound

I Will dance with my son waiting in the doctor's office
So please go around us
I will sway back and forth to calm his soul
Cheer when he’s happy like he scored the winning goal
I Will sing my heart out of tune, if it makes him smile
I Will never stop him from using his deep voice, making his happy sounds
I Will Be Profound.
Standing, jumping, sitting on holy ground
Whatever it takes, I will hit the gas, slam on the brakes
I Will often feel judging eyes behind us yet he is not on trial
The world is a scary place, but my son doesn’t know hate
His innocence is authentic, respect it. He moves with his own grace
I Will hold his hand no matter his age
I Will stand on any stage to advocate, innovate, celebrate
He is not his autism. He is Profoundly Awesome
